More Gifts Under $100...Eyebobs!

Actually "eye-bobs"...billed as "reading glasses for the irreverent and slightly jaded," these rate their own post for gifts under $100.  Seemingly endless styles, some with bamboo "temples," some designed as bifocal sunglasses, with the bifocal lower part being the "cheater."  Choose your style, choose your magnification, and then choose your case.  In their inimitable eclectic style, there are various colors for a hard case, ditto a soft fabric case with a magnetic close, and then there's the ultimate--a case made of recycled bicycle tire tube.

There are so many styles, people--both men and women--collect eye-bobs, and they are frequently purchased for use as prescription- glass frames.

Gifts under $100

Pocket squares can go casual or dressy, adding a pop of color.  Plains (aka solids, but it doesn't work with the alliteration); plains, plaids, paisley, polka dots.
A seven-piece stationery set in its own travel case offers a stapler, utility knife, scissors, locking tape measure, staple remover, magnifying glass, and a reader support.
Get Naked, and you may never want to be undressed again!  Well, an exaggeration, perhaps, but you'll love the silky smooth, stretchy--and form-fitting-- "boxer brief."  Italian fabric, fabricated in Canada.
Wurkin Stiffs...a couple of basics.  It seems one on the biggest problems men have regarding their wardrobes is losing stays.  Isn't it crazy?  You'd think they'd stay, but they just don't seem to.  So, here was have "power stays," a metal version of the oft-bent, then lost, plastic variety.  They come with little magnetic buttons which can be placed under the shirt to hold the collar points in place--sort of a hidden button-down effect.  Also from Wurkin Stiffs..."Knotz"...a small glass container with a pair of cufflinks.

Wallets--bi-fold, tri-fold, leather, with some exotics (like the stingray, shown) thrown in.  Credit card/business card holders, too.

Hats--Kakadu from Australia, Tilley from Canada (with their famous lifetime guarantee) and (not shown) Nat Nast.

Belts from Brighton that belie their price because of their quality.  Many made in the U.S.  Some reversible, some that come with interchangeable buckles.  Both casual and dressy.  Something for everyone, and every outfit.

Robert Talbott Ties

The newest addition at Outlander is a beautiful selection of exquisite Robert Talbott ties, made from the finest Italian silk.  All ties, with the exception of the bow ties, come in a Robert Talbott gift box.

Visually stunning, these ties have an amazing weight and hand.  They tie close to a perfect knot.

Adding to their appeal, they are handmade in Monterey--Talbott's home base.

We've also brought in two of Talbott's "Seven Fold" ties.  Production of each colorway of any given design is limited to 40, and they are hand-numbered.  Note the beautiful presentation box, which reads inside, in part, "...each pattern is created exclusively for Robert Talbott in collaboration with the two premier silk weaving mills in the world, located in Sudbury, Great Britain, and in Lake Como, Italy...Each tie is folded by skilled hands in seven layers of sumptuous silk using an entire yard of fabric.  The tip of the tie is hand-rolled and sewn with a generous margin void of any extraneous lining to assure unfailing stability when worn."

Our Sale Racks

Occasionally people ask us when we have sales.  Twice a year--we do the Healdsburg "Sidewalk Sales" in March and August.  But you don't have to wait for the sidewalk sales to check out our sale area in the back of the store.

Everything on the sale racks is top quality, fresh from the front of the store.  As we sell items, new ones are constantly rotated in. As you can see, we have shirts--both long- and short-sleeved--a few sport jackets, some shorts, bathing suits, and a quite a few pairs of jeans and slacks.  The shelf right below the "Sale" sign holds mostly tee shirts.

The small print: "sale" sales are final--no returns, no exchanges.  For jeans or pants that need to be shortened, we charge a nominal $12 to cover our costs.

There are lots of great choices, and the selection changes frequently, so be sure to check our sale racks every time you visit!

Where the Grilles Are...

...and some of our latest arrivals, too.  Aside from our vault dressing room--Outlander occupies part of the former Bank of America--another fun and outstanding feature of the shop are the automobile grilles throughout.  (All of which, by the way, are for sale.) One day it dawned on us that there were a lot of grilles on one wall, but no clothes.  This is, after all, a clothing store first and foremost.  And grilles, amazingly, provide endless combinations for hanging, well, hangers.  So, our wall of grills has become a showcase for some of our most recent shirt acquisitions. As you might imagine, the display changes quite frequently!

Kroon Sportcoats

Kroon makes some wonderful sportcoats, and we have several new ones for the cooler weather.  Their medium-wale corduroy in a camel color is classically styled and would be a very versatile addition to anyone's wardrobe.  Here it's in casual mode, teamed up with a Georg Roth shirt, shirt cuffs pulled down all the way and turned up over the jacket sleeve to reveal the contrast fabric on the inside.

Another jacket which is really spectacular does indoor/outdoor double duty.  To start, it's a wool-cashmere blend which comes in either a navy or dark charcoal pinstripe.  On top of that, the details are amazing.  The sleeves feature working buttons.  There's a self-fabric partial lining that extends only about four inches inside either side of the jacket, which zips up for outdoor wear.  The lining wraps up the shoulders and around the neck, providing a nice looking double collar effect.  If it's really cold outside and you're so inclined, you can also button the blazer, turn the collar up, and use the tab hidden under the collar to button the collar closed.  Once you're inside, the partial lining zips out, leaving you with a sharp-looking blazer...four pockets outside and six inside, including one for your iPod and one for your phone.  It doesn't get much better than this!

The vineyards are putting on their coats of yellow and red, the temperature's trending lower.  Fall is obviously in the air.  And Outlander is stocked to the rafters with beautiful clothes for the season.  Soft Merino wool sweaters, luxurious cashmere sweaters.  From Raffi, Autumn Cashmere, and others  Crew necks, mock turtles, zips, V-necks, hoodies.  Cashmere, wool, and chenille scarves.  Cotton twill and fine-wale cord jeans in very warm colors from Alberto.  Overcoats from Sanyo, International Laundry and Haupt.  Kroon sportcoats.  And, of course, amazing leathers from Remy and Missani.  After you enjoy nature's panorama, please...come enjoy ours!!

"Beautifully Curated"

Nothing is more satisfying than to hear the plethora of compliments offered each and every day by those who visit Outlander.  "Amazing selection," "best men's shop north of the Bay," "the most beautifully curated men's shop."  We all share a passion for what we do, and we're happy that it shows!

Shoes!!

Our regulars know us as a source for some of the classic OluKai shoes and sandals.  For a big pop of color, we've added this OluKai trainer featuring an amazingly comfortable, dual density, anatomically contoured footbed.  Though built as a trainer, it can easily be a foot-caressing fashion accessory for your wardrobe.

We've brought in a new line of shoes from Germany..."Trippen." Loaded with European style--featuring fine Italian leathers, asymmetrical stitching and, in some cases, turned toe caps and unique soles-- they've been flying out the door.  Be sure to check them out when you visit.  We're one of only six Trippen retail outlets in California, and the only one north of the Bay Area!

Love it or leave it...

This is a crazy shirt from International Laundry. It is argue-
ably the wildest shirt
at Outlander. It has also been our fastest selling since it arrived, and is being reordered. As you can see, it's seriously distressed looking, and each one is slightly different. The details are amazing.  Warp yarns are snipped and pulled out, resulting in little red squares bordered by tufts of blue. The collar and cuffs are lined with gingham, echoing the pattern of the shirt.  A multicolored tape runs the length of the inside placket and borders the cuff and sleeve. The fabric inside the shirt is a shiny bluish-red, with red squares from where the blue yarn was cut and pulled. You can turn the cuff up once to reveal the gingham and colored tape, or go one step further to show the inside of the sleeve.  It's fun, but not for everyone!

Missani Leather for Fall

Missani leather jackets for fall have arrived!  This is a beautiful, vegetable-washed lambskin, zipper jacket with four pockets, inside and out.  Lightweight, lined, and as soft as butter, it's an amazing alternative to a denim jacket for cool mornings and evenings!  Here, it layers with an Agave tee shirt and Haupt shirt, both 100% cotton.

This is a patch-pocket, two-button blazer of antique sueded lamb.  Inside, it has two breast pockets and an iPod pocket.  The leather is extremely supple.  It can pair equally well with a shirt and tie for a dressed-up casual look, with one of our new Raffi merino wool sweaters, or as shown here with a PYA tee and Haupt shirt.

Several other pieces round out the Missani collection, including a reversible vest of New Zealand waxy lamb on one side and cashmere on the other, and an unlined zip-front jacket in antique suede lamb.

The Vault Door

A very cool feature at Outlander is the 'dressing room in the vault'. The old Bank of America building was built by Italian craftsmen in 1908 and is one of the oldest standing buildings in downtown Healdsburg. Come check it out, it's the safest dressing room in town!
